TYING UP LOOSE ENDS: ENDING 2012 WITH A BANG!

Today is already December 31, 2012. I recall the first post I wrote here was exactly like this, I talked about the upcoming new year, and surprisingly, I am going to talk about it again.
It's funny to look back and see myself on the same house, same chair, same laptop and I sure hope not, same clothes as I was this exact time last year. It's funny to look back and think that my thought were as the same as what i've been thinking last year.

Makes you wonder, does celebrating the New Year really necessary? Think about this, why should we even bother celebrating something that is really just an ordinary day? I mean, it's just a change of number in the calendar. I don't get why people use New Year as an excuse to redeem themselves and use it as a way to clean their slate. hmmm...

Don't get me wrong, I love New Year's day. The noise of outside, the abundant foods, not to mention the drink til you can't stand anymore or drink til the sun's up shiznit we go through every New Year's day. I love celebrating it, I just don't get why but more or less, it's there and is supposed to be revered and celebrated.

Looking back, 2012 was really a roller-coaster ride for me. I mean literally, my life turned upside down this year. Let's see, I've been completely shattered, been the person I don't know existed, been someone who lost track of what really is essential, but just to be fair, my life this year was not all miserable, I just said this to emphasize that life isn't all dandy and sweet. 2012 was not all bad, it was actually a fun and happy year. I can truly say that 2012 really was a year for me to learn new and great things.

This post was entitled tying up loose ends for a reason because that's exactly what I want for this year. For me to be able to live peacefully and transform into a much better person. Tying up loose ends. Making up your mind to what is really of importance. To be able to speak up for what you truly deserve and claim what is truly yours. The time of hoping for the best should finally come to rest, this year it's all about action, about fighting for what you believe and what you deserve. Speaking and standing up for what you truly deserve is the single way to propel you to your desired position. So this year, I want to be in the position where I would be able to be proud of myself, for me to be able to be the person whom I can say that that is the person I want to be, and will be.

This year grants drastic changes to me not only on the sense of change per se but maturity in terms of profession and as a person as well. This year grants me growth and experience beyond all my years as a person. This year offers great expectations, and to be able to make those expectations real is to put them into action.

Be ready 2013. Whatever you have in store for me, I'm ready to face it head on!

Goodbye, 2012... Hello 2013!

Every Means at Your Disposal.

Do everything to make yourself happy, use every means at your disposal to achieve everything you want. The world does not care about the things you want, because the rest of the world is also busy trying to acquire what they want, what they need. You are just part of the world, the rest of the world, and therefore, you strive to gain what you want, what you need.

Never let someone or something hinder you from obtaining what you desire. There will be obstacles and hindrances that will deter you from it but if you want it bad enough, you will fight for it; you will strive hard for it and in due time, you can claim it as yours. The victory that you long for will soon be yours, and it is much sweeter if you had worked hard for it.

Being happy is not just a state of mind, it is more of a condition. A condition in which everything seems to fall in its place even though it is not; happiness cannot be imposed it is only acquired and it will never be gained unless you acknowledge it. If you want to be happy, start with yourself, and everything else will follow. The happiest people are the ones who are the most content.

The Importance of Knowing and Believing.

Have you ever had let go of something out of a sacrifice? Out of something in which the world would be a better place if you are not grasping it at the moment? Ah, the moment. Yes. For there is a time and place for everything.
Letting go is not cowardice, rather it is being the bravest of all. We let go because we are confident, we are very sure that it I meant for us, and so will have to come back for us. I believe that if you put all your love and hope to something it will somehow find its way back to you. There is an invisible, unbreakable thread that transcends time and space; that bounds you to your fate, your most desired dream, and that thread is no other than love. The single most powerful force known to humankind.

The importance of knowing disputes even hoping. In knowing there is certainty, yet certainty is not achieved without believing. Believing in what you know. Standing up for what you know eliminates all doubts and thus eliminates fear, and the absence of fear is an indication of certainty, with certainty there is tranquility, with that comes peace.

Letting go of something of dire importance is presumably hard, but with knowing and believing, with this two working hand-in-hand, makes all the differences. Believe in something and know that it will be. Follow this. Assume that no matter where life takes you, you are bound to that invisible, unbreakable thread. All you have to do is to KNOW&BELIEVE.

ON SILENCE

I respect silence, silence in all forms, in all shapes, in all situations. Silence can mean everything, doubt, assurance, shame, anger, peace, serenity..clarity

Whenever I am silent, I think and when I think, I understand and when I understand, I am at peace. Therefore, in silence, I am at peace.

But one thing silence is not, is ignorance. It can submit to all forms, all reasons but not ignorance. Being silent doesn't mean we ignore, on the contrary, it is the other way around. We human beings are accustomed to saying what we feel, what we want but neglect the things others want to hear. So in silence, something occupies a space in our soul that it needs further processing, further thinking and thus, technically, not ignoring, on the other hand, it is priority that is why we think about it.

I respect other people's silence, especially silence they so gladly give to me, I am not frustrated for I don't know the reason of being silent, or why someone is silent. I respect silence, for I respect the person. There is a reason for silence and oftentimes we really don't know the reason behind it. The only one who knows is the once who offers silence.

With this, I hope I can make you be silent for a while and think of the things that needs clarity.

You may not instantly have the answer to it but at least you got to think about it, awareness is the 1st step to understanding. With this I hope I had shed a new light on respecting and valuing silence.

FEAST OF THE BLACK NAZARENE

Filipinos are such devout Catholics.
I am a Filipino but I cannot say that I am a devout Catholic. Not until today.
Let me explain.  *(because it’s seemingly rude to say that I am only a devout catholic for a day.)

Today. January 09, 2011. Feast day of the Black Nazarene.
Today is the day where millions of Filipinos flock to the streets of Manila to celebrate and revere  in one of, if not the greatest feast in the Philippines but is one of the biggest and grandest of them all.

9 million people. 9 million Filipino Catholics. 9 million sweat-drenched, barefooted people, 9 million people dressed exactly the same as the other 8 million. 9 million devotees. 9 million believers.

I am one of those 9 million.

Yes, people. I am proud to say, I am a Black Nazarene Devotee

But this blog post isn’t about me.  This is about why people are such hardcore devotees.
There is this one question that my uncle asked while we were hearing the early morning mass before the Black Nazarene parades off that got me thinking.. it goes like this:

Daddy Julius: “Ang daming tao. Ano kaya ang nagtutulak sa mga taong to’ para pumunta dito?”

Aaron: “…”

Sa totoo lang, napa-isip talaga ako. I mean, why? Why bother waking up early in the morning and go to a super-crowded place just to see a black statue carrying a big cross? Why bother risking your life just to get close to it, just to get a glimpse of it, just to get a hold of its ropes? Why bother? Why?

Up to know, wala parin akong substantial answer sa tanong na yan. But what I can derive is that we Filipinos are such resilient creatures, we get bombarded by problems, big and small. Some, we can handle, and there are some which we can’t.
I can see the importance of having someone whom we can resort our problems to, someone who will never desert us, someone whom we can completely rest our backs to. Its such a great feeling that after all the trials and hardships that we had passed through, we thank God for letting us through, after all, God wouldn’t let us face problems that he know we can’t handle.

Hindi ko naman sinasabi na problema lang ang nagtutulak sa atin para maging deboto, we can also include our thanks. His never ending graces and blessing for us. That though we are creatures who are sinful, God never ends His showers of blessings for us.
For instance, we are alive.  Our lives and to those people who are around us. The people who makes us happy just because they simply exist.

Nothing in this world is far more greater blessing than the gift of life. J

So you see, if you are going to think of why people are such hardcore devotees. Make this thought as your standpoint. The devotees are there because they got where they are because of Him.

With this, I hope that everyone had a safe Feast of The Black Nazarene.
Just know that when you’re hitting rock bottom face first, there is someone who is willing to save you. Willing to be with you through it all.
So after all the rubble had passed, after the Black Nazarene had been carried off the streets of Manila, after the people, tired and exhausted had gone to their houses, remember this. In your darkest moments God will prevail, you just got to hold on to him.

I wish that this blog post had stirred something inside of you though I’m not really in the position to talk about religion. This is just my point of view, sharing of thoughts and insight is encouraged as well. Let’s make use of the comment box, people.  Thanks.

FEAST OF THE BLACK NAZARENE..
